Declaring God’s Power to a New Generation
God is raising up a new generation of believers and the older generation is the means of mentoring and imparting to the newer generation. King David said:
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come. – Ps. 71:18
David wanted to declare God’s pwoer to the next generation. Even in his elderly years David desired to see that what he had seen and experienced be pass down through the generations.
It’s all about mentoring
This principle is found throughout all of scripture. One generation mentoring, imparting, teaching, training, and releasing a newer generation of believers to carry on the torch. Jesus intentionally picked His 12 dicsiples, some older and some younger. John was the youngest and this was strategic in the sense that God wanted to ensure the transference of His purpose to a new generation.
Paul and Timothy
Paul example to Timothy is a prime example. Paul trained Timothy personnaly. But it was then mere training. It was the impartation of a life. Paul said
But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions – 2 Tim. 3:10
Paul was the teacher, Timothy the student, the classroom was life and the subject matter was listed in this verse. Life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love etc . . .
Today Davids & Pauls?
Are we seeing a transferenc of God’s purpose to the next generation? Where are those that are the father’s and mothers in the faith that are passing on the anointing? Lord I pray this day that you use me to have the same passion as David and Paul . . . I pray that in my latter years I would be known as one that helped raise up a new generation that will be stronger than the previous generation. Amen!
